Oakland Raider fans are calling for Derek Carr's job... again

Updated: Aug 18, 2019

The 2019 NFL season has not even begun, and Derek Carr's job is already in jeopardy- to at least to one Oakland Raider fan.

Despite averaging a 62.8 completion percentage, 3,747 yards and 24 touchdowns a year, placing him in the middle of the pack for quarterbacks, Carr still cannot catch a break.

A job posting for the Raiders titled "quarterback" can found online with harsh words for Carr and a warning for all applicants.

While Carr's tenure has featured its ups and downs, none is more prevalent than the visual of the sixth year starter crying on the field after taking a hit from a defender.

Carr faced a fair share of criticism for the response, which has lingered with Raider fans since the incident in 2018, leading to the title of "crybaby" in the job posting.

Immediately after the incident in 2018, The Athletic's Marcus Thompson reported a "fractured relationship" between Carr and his teammates.

"They saw his face," Thompson wrote. "They heard his whimper. They witnessed him explain on the sidelines. They assuredly watched it again in film sessions. It's hard to see how Carr can lead this team again."

Derek's brother Darren responded to the article on twitter.

The Raider quarterback offered a response of his own later in the week.

"Don't even waste your time with this big bro," he tweeted. "On the ground, I yelled get me up, get me up. Then I got to the sideline and yelled again. Not one tear. Not one time. There is the Truth. People will click on it because it sounds crazy. But stop playing with me."

While Carr would not give the statement any further thought, his teammates came to his defense following the incident with former tight end Lee Smith calling the claims "the most obnoxious and ridiculous thing he has ever heard."

Carr obviously finished out the season as the Raiders quarterback and has secured the starting position again for the 2019 season.

On Thursday, Carr further proved himself worthy of the starting job by going 2-2 for 40 yards and a touchdown in week two preseason matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite the success, at least one Raider fan does not think Carr should remain the team's starter. The fan also wishes the team would decline to pay the $19 million owed to the quarterback this season as the job offer pays just two dollars per hour.

The Raiders open the season at home versus the Denver Broncos after wrapping up the preseason in Seattle. Unfortunately for some Raider fans, Carr will be starting against the Broncos and looking to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016 with fellow teammate Antonio Brown and head coach John Gruden.
