NFL Week 3 Predictions

The 2018 NFL season can thus far be described in one word, "WHAT!?"

Patrick Mahomes has been a gunslinger, setting the record for most touchdowns in the first two games of a season with 10. Ryan Fitzpatrick has led the projected last place Buccaneers to a 2-0 record and has been good enough to warrant the nickname" Fitzmagic". The Steelers are in shambles with numerous roster and ego issues effecting on field play.

Through week two, the NFL has been, arguably, the most entertaining is has been in years. 23 of 32 teams are .500 or above to begin this season. The competition looks stiff in both conferences and in every division.

Parody is the NFL's best friend at the moment and as the season continues to unfold and teams show their true selves, two organizations will rise above the rest.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS @ LOS ANGELES RAMS

A possible Super Bowl 53 preview will be on display this week as the Chargers and Rams battle it out to see who runs Los Angeles.

The Chargers come into week three with a 1-1 record after leaving Buffalo victorious last week. Combining for 59 points in the first two weeks of the season, the Chargers offense ranks among the league's best. A running game sitting just outside the top ten and a passing attack that has put up 29.5 points per game will meet their first elite defense of the season.

The Rams' defense is the best in football despite a number three ranking according to NFL.com. Allowing only six points per game, the Rams have had their way with their opponents so far in 2018 without a consistent pass rush.

The Rams have record two sacks all season but the front seven could play a big role this weekend. According to Nextgenstats.nfl.com, Chargers' QB Philip Rivers has only had 2.51 seconds to throw the ball through week two and has yet to face a top tier defense. Imagine what the number one defense in football will be able to do.

A shutdown secondary featuring Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib have totaled four interceptions in 2018, putting them one behind the league lead. Pairing this with a defensive line facing a weak Chargers' offensive line mean Philip Rivers could be in for a long day.

As the "Fight for LA" begins this Sunday, the Rams have the advantage wielding the league's seventh ranked offense and third ranked offense. The Chargers do not come into Sunday defenseless as the Bolts have the third ranked offense but will be missing 2017 team sack leader Joey Bosa again this week.

The Rams will take advantage of Bosa's absence and let running back Todd Gurley loose while the Chargers attack the Rams defense through the air.

If this is a preview of Super Bowl 53, expect the Rams to be holding the Lombardi Trophy come seasons end. The Rams are the better overall team and are coming off a 34 point shutout against the Cardinals. That style of dominance may not carry over into week three but the outcome will. The Chargers are the better passing team which does add an explosive nature to the Bolts offense meaning they can score at anytime.

The Chargers versus the Rams will be a near carbon copy of last weeks Packers/Vikings game but with a winner. The game will be close till the fourth quarter where the Rams will pull away exerting their dominance over the Chargers and go on to start the season 3-0.

Final Score: Rams 31, Chargers 20
