The Minnesota Vikings currently sit in third place in the NFC North with a 2-1 record. Led by the league's leading rusher Dalvin Cook, Minnesota has run over opponents. Despite their success, not all of Minnesota is joining in on the Skol Chants.
According to KFAN 1003 Sports Radio, there have been "rumblings" Minnesota Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs has potentially requested a trade from the team amid a decline in production due to fewer targets.
With the return of Cook, following an ACL tear that shortened his 2018 campaign, the Vikings have elected to rely on the third-year back more than ever. Already totaling 57 attempts, Cook is on pace for 282 carries, more than Le'Veon Bell and Ezekiel Elliott.
On the contrary, the Vikings' passing game has suffered due to Cook's success. In the season opener, Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins attempted just 10 passes, completing eight of them. In week two, Cousins saw an uptick in attempts with 32, only one of those passes fell into the hands of Stefon Diggs.
Heading into week three, Diggs had totaled just three receptions for 86 yards and one touchdown. Not the start expected from a receiver coming off a 100 reception and 1000 yard season.
Week three proved more fruitful if that can even be said, as Diggs doubled his receptions bringing his total to six for the season. Diggs even added 15 more yards, getting him over the century mark.
To put Diggs slow start in perspective, through week three of 2018, Diggs totaled 16 receptions for 188 yards and three touchdowns.
With a possible disgruntled Diggs, the Vikings may look to move the star receiver in a trade package centered around Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who requested a trade prior to the team's Thursday night victory of the Tennessee Titans.
Diggs nor his representation have confirmed a formal trade request, but one has to assume if the team continues to leave Diggs out of the gameplan, a trade could be looming.
