The last time Warriors' fan saw Klay Thompson he was leaving Oracle Arena on crutches after tearing his ACL and hitting a few clutch free throws in the final game of the 2019 NBA Finals.

While an NBA Finals loss and a torn ACL that will cost him the majority of next season is little to cheer about, recent reports should brighten up the day for Thompson and the rest of DubNation.

Klay Thompson and the Warriors “plan to reach” an agreement on a five-year, $190 million maximum deal Sunday when Golden State front office executives visit Thompson in Los Angeles, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

Warriors' general manager Bob Myers made it clear following the 2019 NBA Finals that team planned to offer max contracts to both Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant. With Durant likely headed elsewhere, or at least entertaining the possibility, retaining Thompson is a must.

While the deal will not be official till Sunday at 6pm, the agreement is a foregone conclusion. NBC Sports Bay Area Warriors' insider Monte Poole confirmed Charania's report meaning Thompson's return to Golden State for the next five seasons is a guarantee.

Thompson stated in February of 2018 he wanted to remain a Warrior for the rest of his career.

"I've always said that," he told Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group. "Playing for one team your whole career is definitely special. Only so many guys have done it in professional sports, so it'll be a goal of mine. Hopefully it all works out."

Come Sunday, Thompson's goal of being a lifetime Golden State Warriors will have been met without the need of NBA free agency or the hassle of free agency meetings.

While Kevin Durant's free agency decision still looms, Thompson and the Warriors can rest assured their futures are set in stone.
