The 2020 NFL draft was the most watched draft in history with over 55 million viewers. Even though the stage was a little different with the Roger Goodell announcing the picks from his gorgeous basement, the feeling was still the same for 255 players from LSU’s Joe Burrow to Mr. Irrelevant Georgia’s Tae Crowder.
While some draft picks were obvious, there were a lot of surprises like the Green Bay Packers selecting a quarterback with their first pick and the New England Patriots not selecting a quarterback.
Some of these teams had a great weekend while others, like Green Bay, did not. Here is a quick breakdown of every team in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Arizona Cardinals: C
Primary Needs: OL, EDGE, DL, DB, RB
Don’t expect the Cardinals to get to the playoffs this year. Even though they stepped up their defense in the draft and they got DeAndre Hopkins in the offseason, the offense can still be better. They also need to fill the tight end hole. It was surprising to see that they did not draft a tight end in the draft
1. Isaiah Simmons LB/Clemson
2. Josh Jones OL/Houston
3. Leki Fotu DL/Utah
4. Rashard Lawrence DL/LSU
5. Evan Weaver LB/California
6. Eno Benjamin RB/Arizona State
Atlanta Falcons: C-
Primary Needs: DB, LB, DL, OL, RB
The surprising move that the Falcons made was drafting A.J. Terrell with the 16th overall pick. Instead of going for a top 10 player, they filled a position that they didn’t really need in the first round. Terrell is not even a first-round caliber player. The Falcons should have went with a defensive lineman in the first round and if they were lucky, they could have got Terrell in the second round.
1. A.J. Terrell CB/Clemson
2. Marlon Davidson DL/Auburn
3. Matt Hennessy OL/Temple
4. Mykal Walker LB/Fresno State
5. Jaylinn Hawkins S/California
6. Sterling Hofrichter P/Syracuse
Baltimore Ravens: A
Primary Needs: LB, OL, WR, EDGE, DL
After being the best team in the regular season and then losing the first playoff game, Jim Harbaugh came back big in the draft. They got a solid linebacker in Patrick Queen and a great running back in J.K. Dobbins. Expect the Ravens to be a Super Bowl contender again in 2020.
1. Patrick Queen LB/LSU
2. J.K. Dobbins RB/Ohio State
3. Justin Madubuike DL/Texas A&M
4. Devin Duvernay WR/Texas
5. Malik Harrison LB/Ohio State
6. Tyre Phillips OL/Mississippi State
7. Ben Bredeson OL/Michigan
8. James Proche WR/SMU
9. Geno Stone S/Iowa
Buffalo Bills: B
Primary Needs: EDGE, CB, RB, OL, LB
This could have been a better grade for the Bills if they didn’t trade their first-round pick for Stefon Diggs. They did have a good first pick in the second round with A.J. Epenesa after the Bills lost their leading sackers last season. Expect the Bills to make it to the playoffs next year.
1. A.J. Epenesa EDGE/Iowa
2. Zack Moss RB/Utah
3. Gabriel Davis WR/UCF
4. Jake Fromm QB/Georgia
5. Tyler Bass K/Georgia Southern
6. Isaiah Hodgins WR/Oregon State
7. Dan Jackson CB/Pittsburgh
Carolina Panthers: B-
Primary Needs: DL, CB, EDGE, OL, LB
The biggest surprise from the Carolina Panthers was Kenny Robinson, who was the first XFL player to be drafted. The Panthers never had a problem with their offense, but they really stepped it up drafting a lot of defensive players. The Panthers will start a little rough with a young defense, but this could be a big rebuild year for them.
1. Derrick Brown DL/Auburn
2. Yetur Gross-Matos EDGE/Penn State
3. Jeremy Chinn S/Southern Illinois
4. Troy Pride Jr. CB/Notre Dame
5. Kenny Robinson Jr. S/West Virginia
6. Bravvion Roy DL/Baylor
7. Stantley Thomas-Oliver III CB/Florida International
Chicago Bears: C
Primary Needs: CB, S, OL, WR, QB
For a team that did not have a pick in the first, third, and fourth rounds, the Bears had a decent draft. They really did not need to draft a tight end in the second round, but they got a good cornerback in Jaylon Johnson and they filled their quarterback need with Nick Foles. The Bears are trying to win again, and they can do that if Foles stays healthy.
1. Cole Kmet TE/Notre Dame
2. Jaylon Johnson CB/Utah
3. Trevis Gipson EDGE/Tulsa
4. Kindle Vildor CB/ Georgia Southern
5. Darnell Mooney WR/Tulane
6. Arlington Hambright OL/Colorado
7. Lachvious Simmons OL/Tennessee State
Cincinnati Bengals: A-
Primary Needs: QB, OL, LB, TE, WR
Photo credited to wptv.com
I can really see Cincinnati finally winning a playoff game with Joe Burrow. The potential rookie of the year will have an immediate impact starting at week one. Burrow also has a good weapon in Tee Higgins. With those two, we could be seeing the next great passer/receiver duo in the NFL.
1. Joe Burrow QB/LSU
2. Tee Higgins WR/Clemson
3. Logan Wilson LB/Wyoming
4. Akeem Davis-Gaither LB/Appalachian State
5. Khalid Kareem EDGE/Notre Dame
6. Hakeem Adeniji OL/Kansas
7. Markus Bailey LB/Purdue
Cleveland Browns: B+
Primary Needs: OT, S, LB, DL, WR
I have a feeling the AFC North division is going to be the most exciting division in the 2020. The Browns drafted three national champions in the first four picks with Jedrick Wills, Grant Delpit, and Jacob Phillips. The Browns have an act for drafting the best players from the best college programs. This could finally be the year the Browns have a winning season.
1. Jedrick Wills Jr. OL/Alabama
2. Grant Delpit S/LSU
3. Jordan Elliott DL/Missouri
4. Jacob Phillips LB/LSU
5. Harrison Bryant TE/Florida Atlantic
6. Nick Harris OL/Washington
7. Donovan Peoples-Jones WR/Michigan
Dallas Cowboys: B
Primary Needs: EDGE, CB, OL, WR, TE
The Cowboys made a surprise move in the first round drafting CeeDee Lamb. The Cowboys did not need a wide receiver that badly, but they did that hoping the Philadelphia Eagles did not get one of the best wide receivers in the draft. Other than that, the Cowboys did well in the draft getting a national champion cornerback in Trevon Diggs and a promising FCS quarterback in Ben DiNucci from James Madison.
1. CeeDee Lamb WR/Oklahoma
2. Trevon Diggs CB/Alabama
3. Neville Gallimore DL/Oklahoma
4. Reggie Robinson II CB/Tulsa
5. Tyler Biadasz OL/Wisconsin
6. Bradlee Anae EDGE/Utah
7. Ben DiNucci QB/James Madison
Denver Broncos: C
Primary Needs: WR, OL, CB, LB, S
The Broncos pulled through with two great wide receivers in Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy and Penn State’s K.J. Hamler. They needed weapons for Joe Flacco and they delivered in the draft. I still do not see Denver making the playoffs, but they should have a good season on offense.
1. Jerry Jeudy WR/Alabama
2. K.J. Hamler WR/Penn State
3. Michael Ojemudia CB/Iowa
4. Lloyd Cushenberry C/LSU
5. McTelvin Agim DT/Arkansas
6. Albert Okwuegbunam TE/Missouri
7. Justin Strnad LB/Wake Forest
8. Netane Buti G/Fresno State
9. Tyrie Cleveland WR/Florida
10. Derrek Tuszka EDGE/North Dakota State
Detroit Lions: B
Primary Needs: CB, DL, OL, RB, WR
Detroit got a big boost on defesne with Jeff Okudah, who was the best cornerback in the country last year. The Lions don’t have the best class in the 2020 draft, but the Lions’ defense will be better this season.
1. Jeff Okudah CB/Ohio State
2. D’Andre Swift RB/Georgia
3. Julian Okwara EDGE/Notre Dame
4. Jonah Jackson G/Ohio State
5. Logan Stenberg G/Kentucky
6. Quintez Cephus WR/Wisconsin
7. Jason Huntley RB/New Mexico State
8. John Penisini DT/Utah
9. Jashon Cornell DT/Ohio State
Green Bay Packers: E-
Primary Needs: TE, WR, OL, LB, CB

What is going on with the Packers? They made the biggest surprise in the draft selecting a quarterback in the first round. They made it worse drafting a Boston College running back in the second round.
Even though the Packers selected a much-needed tight end in the third round, they drafted a fifth-round caliber tight end in Josiah Deguara. I think the Packers will be fine with Aaron Rodgers, but they did not step it up in the draft.
1. Jordan Love QB/Utah State
2. A.J. Dillon RB/Boston College
3. Josiah Deguara TE/Cincinnati
4. Kamal Martin LB/Minnesota
5. Jon Runyan G/Michigan
6. Jake Hanson C/Oregon
7. Simon Stepaniak G/Indiana
8. Vernon Scott DB/TCU
9. Jonathan Garvin EDGE/Miami (FL)
Houston Texans: C-
Primary Needs: DL, OL, EDGE, WR, CB
Since Bill O’Brien took over the Houston Texans, he has been aggressive with trades. So far this offseason he traded a second-round pick for David Johnson and another second-round pick to the Rams for Brandin Cooks. With all his trades, he only had five draft picks.
Although the Texans filled three positions, they could have done better with their first pick.
1. Ross Blacklock DT/TCU
2. Jonathan Greenard EDGE/Florida
3. Charlie Heck T/North Carolina
4. John Reid CB/Penn State
5. Isaiah Coulter WR/Rhode Island
Indianapolis Colts: A-
Primary Needs: EDGE, LB, RB, WR, OL
It was surprising that the Colts did not go for a quarterback in their first pick, but they pulled through to have a really good draft in terms of offense. In the fourth round they somehow managed to get Washington’s Jacob Eason and they got a great first-round wide receiver in USC’s Michael Pittman.
It’s going to be an interesting year for the Colts especially when they face the Titans in 2020.
1. Michael Pittman WR/USC
2. Jonathan Taylor RB/Wisconsin
3. Julian Blackmon S/Utah
4. Jacob Eason QB/Washington
5. Danny Pinter G/Ball State
6. Rob Windsor DT/Penn State
7. Isaiah Rodgers DB/Massachusetts
8. Dezmon Patmon WR/Washington State
9. Jordan Glasgow LB/Michigan
Jacksonville Jaguars: B-
Primary Needs: CB, DL, EDGE, OL, RB
The Jaguars had a great first round selecting the second-ranked cornerback C.J. Henderson and second-ranked edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson. Do not expect Jacksonville to be a playoff team in 2020, but that only depends on how Gardner Minshew does as quarterback.
1. C.J. Henderson CB/Florida
2. K’Lavon Chaisson EDGE/LSU
3. Laviska Shenault Jr. WR/Colorado
4. DaVon Hamilton DT/Ohio State
5. Ben Bartch T/St. John’s (Minn.)
6. Josiah Scott CB/Michigan State
7. Shaquille Quarterman LB/Miami (FL)
8. Daniel Thomas S/Auburn
9. Collin Johnson WR/Texas
10. Jake Luton QB/Oregon State
11. Tyler Davis TE/Georgia Tech
12. Chris Claybrooks CB/Memphis
Kansas City Chiefs: C
Primary Needs: CB, LB, RB, OL, DL
As the defending Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs did not really need big prospects. The Chief’s only promising draftee was LSU’s running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The defending national champion won’t start in week one as running back, but he has good hands to be a good wide receiver.
1. Clyde Edwards-Helaire RB/LSU
2. Willie Gay Jr. LB/Mississippi State
3. Lucas Niang T/TCU
4. L’Jarius Sneed S/Louisiana Tech
5. Michael Danna EDGE/Michigan
6. Bopete Keyes CB/Tulane
Las Vegas Raiders: C+
Primary Needs: WR, CB, DL, OL, LB
The first ever class heading to Las Vegas is a promising one for the Raiders. They had no problem selecting much-needed wide receivers including Alabama’s Henry Ruggs and Kentucky’s Lynn Bowden.
Even though the Raiders should have went with Jordan Love in the first round, they must have a lot of faith in Derek Carr. It’s going to be an interesting bet in Vegas in 2020.
1. Henry Ruggs III WR/Alabama
2. Damon Arnette CB/Ohio State
3. Lynn Bowden WR/Kentucky
4. Bryan Edwards WR/South Carolina
5. Tanner Muse S/Clemson
6. John Simpson G/Clemson
7. Amik Robertson CB/Louisiana Tech
Los Angeles Chargers: B-
Primary Needs: QB, OT, LB, EDGE, TE
Photo credited to nypost.com
The Chargers made a great decision in drafting Justin Herbert after parting ways with Phillip Rivers. They also gave Herbert some great wide receivers in Virginia’s Joe Reed and Ohio State’s K.J. Hill. Those three players could make a great impact for the Chargers at SoFi stadium in 2020.
1. Justin Herbert QB/Oregon
2. Kenneth Murray LB/Oklahoma
3. Joshua Kelley RB/UCLA
4. Joe Reed WR/Virginia
5. Alohi Gilman S/Notre Dame
6. K.J. Hill WR/Ohio State
Los Angeles Rams: C
Primary Needs: OL, OT, LB, DL, RB
It was not a big surprise that the Rams selected a running back first after losing Todd Gurley. Cam Akers will not be as good as Gurley, but he could be a decent replacement with his big-play ability.
Florida’s Van Jefferson is also a good pick with his ability to get open, even though the Rams really did not need a wide receiver.
1. Cam Akers RB/Florida State
2. Van Jefferson WR/Florida
3. Terrell Lewis EDGE/Alabama
4. Terrell Burgess S/Utah
5. Brycen Hopkins TE/Purdue
6. Jordan Fuller S/Ohio State
7. Clay Johnston LB/Baylor
8. Sam Sloman K/Miami (Ohio)
9. Tremayne Anchrum G/Clemson
Miami Dolphins: A-
Primary Needs: QB, OL, RB, S, EDGE
Photo credited to nytimes.com
The Dolphins came through getting Tua Tagovailoa with the fifth overall pick. Tagovailoa can be a great addition to Miami when he’s healthy, but they have to worry about his injury history. Don’t expect Tagovailoa to start all 16 games, but the Dolphins can finally be a contender for the AFC East crown.
1. Tua Tagovailoa QB/Alabama
2. Austin Jackson T/USC
3. Noah Igbinoghene CB/Auburn
4. Robert Hunt T/Louisiana-Lafayette
5. Raekwon Davis DT/Alabama
6. Brandon Jones S/Texas
7. Solomon Kindley G/Georgia
8. Jason Strowbridge DE/North Carolina
9. Curtis Weaver EDGE/Boise State
10. Blake Ferguson LS/LSU
11. Malcolm Perry WR/Navy
Minnesota Vikings: A
Primary Needs: CB, WR, EDGE, OL, S
The Vikings dominated the 2020 draft. They got lucky in the first round getting Justin Jefferson and a lot of trades gave the Vikings a great weekend. With 15 draft picks, it’s hard for any team to not have a great draft class.
Although the Vikings traded Stefon Diggs, they got a couple of great replacements in Jefferson and Miami’s K.J. Osborn. I honestly expect the Vikings to be a Super Bowl contender this year.
1. Justin Jefferson WR/LSU
2. Jeff Gladney CB/TCU
3. Ezra Cleveland T/Boise State
4. Cameron Dantzler CB/Mississippi State
5. D.J. Wonnum EDGE/South Carolina
6. James Lynch DE/Baylor
7. Troy Dye LB/Oregon
8. Harrison Hand CB/Temple
9. K.J. Osborn WR/Miami (FL)
10. Blake Brandel G/Oregon State
11. Josh Metellus S/Michigan
12. Kenny Willekes DE/Michigan State
13. Nate Stanley QB/Iowa
14. Brian Cole II S/Mississippi State
15. Kyle Hinton G/Washburn
New England Patriots: D
Primary Needs: QB, TE, LB, DL, WR
Typical Bill Belichick doing Bill Belichick things in the NFL draft. The Patriots shocked the NFL selecting a Divison II safety with their first pick. Also the Patriots waited until after the draft to sign rookie free agent quarterback J’Mar Smith from Louisiana Tech. Belichick also signed Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke.
Belchick must have a lot of faith in Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham. For the first time in decades, I do not expect the Patriots to make the playoffs.
1. Kyle Dugger S/Lenoir-Rhyne
2. Josh Uche LB/Michigan
3. Anfernee Jennings EDGE/Alabama
4. Devin Asiasi TE/UCLA
5. Dalton Keene TE/Virginia Tech
6. Justin Rohrwasser K/Marshall
7. Michael Onwenu G/Michigan
8. Justin Herron G/Wake Forest
9. Cassh Maluia LB/Wyoming
10. Dustin Woodard C/Memphis
New Orleans Saints: C
Primary Needs: LB, OL, CB, WR, QB
With only four players drafted, the Saints actually did well. They made a good choice in selecting Michigan’s Cesar Ruiz, who was one of the best offensive linemen in the country last season. In the last round, they did Mississippi State’s Tommy Stevens a favor since he will be able to learn from one of the all-time great quarterbacks in the business.
1. Cesar Ruiz C/Michigan
2. Zack Baun LB/Wisconsin
3. Adam Trautman TE/Dayton
4. Tommy Stevens QB/Mississippi State
New York Giants: B-
Primary Needs: OT, EDGE, S, WR, TE
The Giants did not do any favors for Daniel Jones in the draft, but they stepped up their defense with good linebackers in Penn State’s Cameron Brown, South Carolina’s T.J. Brunson, and Georgia’s Tae Crowder. With a decent offense and a boost in the defense after the draft, expect the Giants to be in a lot of low-scoring games this season.
1. Andrew Thomas T/Georgia
2. Xavier McKinney S/Alabama
3. Matt Peart T/Connecticut
4. Darnay Holmes CB/UCLA
5. Shane Lemieux G/Oregon
6. Cameron Brown LB/Penn State
7. Carter Coughlin EDGE/Minnesota
8. T.J. Brunson LB/South Carolina
9. Chris Williamson CB/Minnesota
10. Tae Crowder LB/Georgia
New York Jets: B+
Primary Needs: WR, EDGE, OT, CB, RB
With this being Joe Douglas’ first time in charge of a draft board as general manager, he had one of the best weekends than a lot of other teams. Douglas made an immediate impact selecting Mekhi Becton, the 6-foot-7, 364-pound monster of offensive tackles. It will be very interesting how any defender can get past him.
1. Mekhi Becton OT/Louisville
2. Denzel Mims WR/Baylor
3. Ashtyn Davis S/California
4. Jabari Zuniga EDGE/Florida
5. La’Mical Perine RB/Florida
6. James Morgan QB/Florida International
7. Cameron Clarke G/Charlotte
8. Bryce Hall CB/Virginia
9. Braden Mann P/Texas A&M
Philadelphia Eagles: C
Primary Needs: WR, OL, LB, CB, S
Photo credited to theeagleswire.usatoday.com
The Eagles joked in the first round not selecting LSU’s Justin Jefferson, but day three gave them the reboot that they needed. Eagle Nation was shocked when the Eagles drafted Jalen Jurts, a quarterback that the Eagles certainly do not need.
However, the Eagles did well on day three selecting Boise State wide receiver John Hightower and Southern Miss wide receiver Quez Watkins, which I considered hidden gems in this year’s draft. If Carson Wentz stays healthy, expect the Eagles to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.
1. Jalen Reagor WR/TCU
2. Jalen Hurts QB/Oklahoma
3. Davion Taylor LB/Colorado
4. K’Von Wallace S/Clemson
5. Jack Driscoll T/Auburn
6. John Hightower WR/Boise State
7. Shaun Bradley LB/Temple
8. Quez Watkins WR/Southern Miss.
9. Prince Tega Wanogho T/Auburn
10. Casey Toohill EDGE/Stanford
Pittsburgh Steelers: C+
Primary Needs: EDGE, LB, RB, WR, OL
Without a first-round pick, the Steelers did well selecting Notre Dame’s Chase Claypool. The 6-foot-4 wide receiver could be used as a tight end, but Claypool’s slot experience could be useful for the black and yellow.
Steeler fans might be a little skeptical about Charlotte’s Alex Highsmith, but he can be a great fit as an outside linebacker.
1. Chase Claypool WR/Notre Dame
2. Alex Highsmith EDGE/Charlotte
3. Anthony McFarland RB/Maryland
4. Kevin Dotson G/Louisiana-Lafayette
5. Antoine Brooks Jr. S/Maryland
6. Carlos Davis DT/Nebraska
San Francisco 49ers: C+
Primary Needs: WR, OL, DL, CB, S
Since the 49ers won the NFC championship last season, they lost some key players in free agency including Emmanuel Sanders. They managed to get a couple of good replacements in Arizona State’s Brandon Aiyuk and Tennessee’s Jauan Jennings.
Aiyuk was a beast in the Pac-12 last season and he could be a great receiver for Jimmy Garoppolo.
1. Javon Kinlaw DT/South Carolina
2. Brandon Aiyuk WR/Arizona State
3. Colton McKivitz T/West Virginia
4. Charlie Woerner TE/Georgia
5. Jauan Jennings WR/Tennessee
Seattle Seahawks: B-
Primary Needs: EDGE, OL, DL, RB, WR
The Seahawks had a great 2019 season going 11-5. While 10 of those wins were one-score games, the Seahawks needed some adjustments on offense and defense. Expect Texas Tech’s Jordyn Brooks to make an immediate impact as linebacker.
The biggest surprise to me for Seattle was LSU’s Stephen Sullivan, who was drafted in the seventh round. Sullivan could have been drafted in the fourth or fifth round, but the Seahawks got a potential steal in Sullivan.
1. Jordyn Brooks LB/Texas Tech
2. Darrell Taylor EDGE/Tennessee
3. Damien Lewis G/LSU
4. Colby Parkinson TE/Stanford
5. DeeJay Dallas RB/Miami (FL)
6. Alton Robinson EDGE/Syracuse
7. Freddie Swain WR/Florida
8. Stephen Sullivan TE/LSU
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: C
Primary Needs: OT, RB, DL, QB, S
We could see history this season as the Buccaneers could become the first team in NFL history to host the Super Bowl. With Tom Brady, joining Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers needed weapons for him and they got one with Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs.
I thought Wirfs was going to be a top 10 draft pick, but the Bucs got a huge break selecting him 13th overall. Wirfs has the ability to do well in left and right tackle positions, which will protect Brady in either side of the pocket.
1. Tristan Wirfs T/Iowa
2. Antoine Winfield Jr. S/Minnesota
3. Ke’Shawn Vaughn RB/Vanderbilt
4. Tyler Johnson WR/Minnesota
5. Khalil Davis DT/Nebraska
6. Chapelle Russell LB/Temple
7. Raymond Calais RB/Louisiana-Lafayette
Tennessee Titans: C+
Primary Needs: EDGE, DL, OL, CB, RB
After making a surprise run to the AFC championship game last season, it was interesting to see how the Titans would do in this year’s draft. I really did not see Isaiah Wilson as a first-round pick, but the 6-foot-6, 350-pound offensive tackle could be a great fit for Tennessee if he improves his technique.
1. Isaiah Wilson OT/Georgia
2. Kristian Fulton CB/LSU
3. Darrynton Evans RB/Appalachian State
4. Larrell Murchison DT/North Carolina State
5. Cole McDonald QB/Hawaii
6. Chris Jackson DB/Marshall
Washington Redskins: C+
Primary Needs: OL, TE, WR, CB, EDGE
The Redskins did not surprise anyone drafting Chase Young as the second overall pick. The Redskins also got a great pick in Memphis’s Antonio Gibson, who could be a big threat as a wide receiver and a running back. We could see him getting at least 10 touches every game.
Although I question some picks like San Diego State’s Keith Ismael and Liberty’s Antonio Gandy-Golden, we could see Washington make a quick turnaround in 2020.
1. Chase Young DE/Ohio State
2. Antonio Gibson WR/Memphis
3. Saahdiq Charles T/LSU
4. Antonio Gandy-Golden WR/Liberty
5. Keith Ismael C/San Diego State
6. Khaleke Hudson LB/Michigan
7. Kamren Curl S/Arkansas
8. James Smith-Williams EDGE/North Carolina State
