2019 NBA Mock Draft 1.0: Full First-Round Mock

Updated: May 30, 2019

1. New Orleans Pelicans: Zion Williamson (Duke, F)

Age: 18 Height: 6’7” Weight: 285 Wingspan: 6’10” Standing Reach: 8’7” PPG: 22.6 REB: 8.9 AST: 2.1 STL: 1.8 BLK: 1.8 TOV: 2.4FG%: 68.0 3PT%: 33.8 FT%: 64.0

TS%: 70.2 eFG%: 70.8 PER: 40.8

Pelicans fans’ prayers have been answered, with the first overall pick of the 2019 NBA draft, they will almost certainly be selecting arguably the best player to enter the NBA draft since 2012, when they selected Anthony Davis No. 1 overall. Newly installed executive vice president David Griffin has been gifted the opportunity to draft a supremely talented franchise player amidst the front office's trade negotiations for Davis. The Pelicans now have the opportunity to assemble a defensive juggernaut led by the trio of Davis, Williamson and Jrue Holiday that could return the team to the playoffs.

2. Memphis Grizzlies: Ja Morant (Murray St., G)

Age: 19 Height: 6’3” Weight: 175 Wingspan: 6’7” Standing Reach: N/a PPG: 24.5 REB: 5.7 AST: 10.0 STL: 1.8 BLK: 0.8 TOV: 5.2FG%: 49.9 3PT%: 36.3 FT%: 81.3

TS%: 61.2 eFG%: 55.3 PER: 31.6

Morant offers elite athleticism and playmaking at the point guard position with all-star potential and will immediately become the future for an organization that is in the middle of a rebuild. Despite playing in a mid-major conference, Morant absolutely proved that he is worthy of a top-two selection. After trading Marc Gasol to Toronto prior to the trade deadline, the Grizzlies will likely move on from Mike Conley in order to give the keys to the franchise to Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., Memphis’ No. 4 overall selection in 2018.

3. New York Knicks: R.J. Barrett (Duke, F)

Age: 18 Height: 6’7” Weight: 202 Wingspan: 6’10” Standing Reach: 8’6”

PPG: 22.6 REB: 7.6 AST: 4.3 STL: 0.9 BLK: 0.4 TOV: 3.2 FG%: 45.4 3PT%: 30.8 FT%: 66.5

TS%: 53.2 eFG%: 50.6 PER: 23.3

Barrett entered his freshman season at Duke as the No. 1 ranked prospect in the

country, and despite some questionable decision making, he has the athleticism and scoring ability to succeed at the next level. Barrett will also benefit from NBA spacing and will continue to develop given that he is only 18 years old. Combining Barrett with Kevin Knox can provide the Knicks with two young athletic wing players.

4. Los Angeles Lakers: De’Andre Hunter (Virginia, F)

Age: 21 Height: 6’7” Weight: 225 Wingspan: 7’2” Standing Reach: N/a

PPG: 15.2 REB: 5.1 AST: 2.0 STL: 0.6 BLK: 0.6 TOV: 1.4FG%: 52.0 3PT%: 43.8 FT%: 78.3

TS%: 61.8 eFG%: 57.9 PER: 24.3

Two of the Lakers’ biggest weaknesses last season were their defense and their three- point shooting. The Lakers shot just 33.3 percent from beyond the arc last season, which was second worst in the NBA. Although Hunter’s numbers are underwhelming, he played an instrumental part in Virginia’s National Championship and projects as an elite three-point shooter and lengthy defender. He also played alongside two prolific shooting guards, Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy. At 21, Hunter is immediately ready to contribute to a team that will want to see an instant impact from their draft selection and desires a player who knows how to play championship basketball.

5. Cleveland Cavaliers: Jarrett Culver (Texas Tech, G)

Age: 20 Height: 6’6” Weight: 194 Wingspan: 6’9.5” Standing Reach: 8’4.5”

PPG: 18.5 REB: 6.4 AST: 3.7 STL: 1.5 BLK: 0.6 TOV: 2.7 FG%: 46.1 3PT%: 30.4 FT%: 70.7

TS%: 54.2 eFG%: 50.5 PER: 25.1

Despite questionable shooting numbers, Culver scored 18.5 points per game in his

sophomore season leading Texas Tech to their first Final Four in program history. Culver projects as a big shooting guard who has plenty of potential, but will likely struggle in his rookie season. The Cavaliers are in their second year of a rebuild after losing LeBron James in free agency last summer. Cleveland can pair Culver with their first-round selection last season, point guard Collin Sexton, forming their backcourt for the future.

6. Phoenix Suns: Coby White (UNC, G)

Age: 19 Height: 6’4” Weight: 191 Wingspan: 6’5” Standing Reach: 8’1.5”

PPG: 16.1 REB: 3.5 AST: 4.1 STL: 1.1 BLK: 0.3 TOV: 2.7 FG%: 42.3 3PT%: 35.3 FT%: 80.0

TS%: 55.6 eFG%: 51.6 PER: 19.2

The Suns will likely be selecting between freshman point guards Coby White and Darius

Garland. Although Garland is arguably the better prospect, he is a score-first guard, whereas, White is a talented playmaker who can be a natural fit in the Phoenix backcourt alongside young star Devin Booker. White played in a number of big games in his freshman season at North Carolina and competed against the top talent in the country in the ACC. White’s impressive free throw percentage is a promising sign that he will continue to be able to develop his jump shot at the next level.

7. Chicago Bulls: Darius Garland (Vanderbilt, G)

Age: 19 Height: 6’2” Weight: 175 Wingspan: 6’5” Standing Reach: 8’1”

PPG: 16.2 REB: 3.8 AST: 2.6 STL: 0.8 BLK: 0.4 TOV: 3.0 FG%: 53.7 3PT%: 47.8 FT%: 75.0

TS%: 65.7 eFG%: 63.9 PER: 23.6

Garland played just five games in his freshman season at Vanderbilt, however, in those

five games, he was able to show exactly why he may be the second-best point guard in this year's draft. Garland is a score-first point guard who will likely benefit from the Bulls’ current point guard situation. Given the team’s lack of success with Kris Dunn leading the offense, Garland will surely be the point guard of the future for a team who is still years away from a playoff appearance.

8. Atlanta Hawks: Brandon Clarke (Gonzaga, F)

Age: 22 Height: 6’8.25” Weight: 207 Wingspan: 6’8.25” Standing Reach: 8’6”

PPG: 16.9 REB: 8.6 AST: 1.9 STL: 1.2 BLK: 3.2 TOV: 1.5 FG%: 68.7 3PT%: 26.7 FT%: 69.4

TS%: 69.9 eFG%: 69.3 PER: 37.2

Clarke had an outstanding junior season at Gonzaga and proved that he can be a talented two-way player in the NBA. Averaging 1.2 steals and 3.2 blocks per game, Clarke is one of the best defensive players in this year's draft and will be a great addition to the young nucleus forming in Atlanta. If Vince Carter were to re-sign with the Hawks, he would be the perfect mentor for Clarke to help him transition to the NBA.

9. Washington Wizards: Cam Reddish (Duke, F)

Age: 19 Height: 6’8” Weight: 208 Wingspan: 7’0.5” Standing Reach: 8’9.5”

PPG: 13.5 REB: 3.7 AST: 1.9 STL: 1.6 BLK: 0.6 TOV: 2.7 FG%: 35.6 3PT%: 33.3 FT%: 77.2

TS%: 49.9 eFG%: 45.9 PER: 13.6

Ranked as a top-three prospect entering his freshman season at Duke, Reddish has

seen his stock drop more than anyone. However, he still has an NBA body with the

athleticism to develop into a quality player in the NBA. Despite having an abysmal shooting season at Duke, Reddish has the size and athleticism to potentially develop into a defensive threat on the hardwood. Reddish played in many big games but failed to contribute significantly at the biggest moments during the season.

10. Atlanta Hawks: Bol Bol (Oregon, C)

Age: 19 Height: 7’2.5” Weight: 208 Wingspan: 7’7” Standing Reach: 9’7.5”

PPG: 21.0 REB: 9.6 AST: 1.0 STL: 0.8 BLK: 2.7 TOV: 2.0 FG%: 56.1 3PT%: 52.0 FT%: 75.7

TS%: 63.2 eFG: 61.0 PER: 37.5

There are legitimate injury concerns surrounding Bol Bol. However, he has proven that

he can be an elite stretch five who can confidently score from beyond the three-point line. Averaging 9.6 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game, Bol projects as an impactful rim protector who can anchor a defense with his wingspan and standing reach. Adding Bol to a frontcourt with John Collins will be a natural fit given Collins’ ability to score inside the paint and Bol’s ability to spread the court. A young core of Trae Young, Collins, Bol, and Clarke would be as entertaining as any other young team in the league.

11. Minnesota Timberwolves: Sekou Doumbouya (France, F)

Age: 18 Height: 6’9” Weight: 230 Wingspan: 6’11” Standing Reach: 8’11”

PPG: 6.7 REB: 3.0 AST: 0.7 STL: 0.6 BLK: 0.4 TOV: N/a FG%: N/a 3PT%: 32.2 FT%: 77.4

TS%: N/a eFG%: 54.9 PER: N/a

Doumbouya enters the draft as the most polarizing prospect given his lack of production.

However, unlike the majority of the other prospects, Doumbouya competed in the LNB Pro A French basketball league and played against grown men rather than college level players. Doumbouya offers ideal size and length as a forward in the NBA and will likely be a project worth investing in. Over time Doumbouya can become an asset for a Timberwolves team trying to return to the playoffs.

12. Charlotte Hornets: Jaxson Hayes (Texas, C)

Age: 19 Height: 6’11” Weight: 219 Wingspan: 7’3.5” Standing Reach: 9’2.5”

PPG: 10.0 REB: 5.0 AST: 0.3 STL: 0.6 BLK: 2.2 TOV: 0.9 FG%: 72.8 3PT%: N/a FT%: 74.0

TS%: 73.9 eFG%: 7.28 PER: 27.0

Although the Hornets will likely be hoping for Bol to fall this far, in the event that he doesn’t, they will select the big man out of Texas. Hayes is a limited player outside of the paint. However, he scored at an efficient rate is his lone season in college and can be a productive rim protector after averaging 2.2 blocks per game.

13. Miami Heat: Romeo Langford (Indiana, G)

Age: 19 Height: 6’6” Weight: 215 Wingspan: 6’11” Standing Reach: 8’7”

PPG: 16.5 REB: 5.4 AST: 2.3 STL: 0.8 BLK: 0.8 TOV: 2.1 FG%: 44.8 3PT%: 27.2 FT%: 72.2

TS%: 54.2 eFG%: 49.1 PER: 19.9

Langford entered the 2018-2019 season as one of the best prospects in the nation. He ended his college career with an underwhelming season at Indiana. He still has great scoring potential despite shooting an abysmal 27.2 percent from three-point range. Langford’s advanced shooting numbers are better than his field goal percentage indicates. However, he will have to continue to work to improve his game to solidify his role in the NBA.

14. Boston Celtics: Nassir Little (UNC, F)

Age: 19 Height: 6’6” Weight: 224 Wingspan: 7’1.25” Standing Reach: 8’8.5”

PPG: 9.8 REB: 4.6 AST: 0.6 STL: 0.5 BLK: 0.5 TOV: 1.3 FG%: 47.8 3PT%: 26.9 FT%: 77.0

TS%: 54.9 eFG%: 50.5 PER: 20.0

Little entered last season as a top-five recruit in the nation but saw limited playing time in

his lone season at North Carolina. Despite not starting for the majority of the season, Little saw extended minutes later in the season as head coach Roy Williams continued to show more trust in his decision making. Despite shooting only 26.9 percent from the three-point line, Little knocked down 77 percent of his free throws last season and has shown enough potential to develop a formidable jump shot within Brad Steven’s system.

15. Detroit Pistons: P.J. Washington (Kentucky, F)

Age: 20 Height: 6’8” Weight: 230 Wingspan: 7’2.25” Standing Reach: 8’10.5”

PPG: 15.2 REB: 7.5 AST: 1.8 STL: 0.8 BLK: 1.2 TOV: 2.0 FG%: 52.2 3PT%: 42.3 FT%: 66.3

TS%: 59.2 eFG%: 56.7 PER: 26.0

Washington is a versatile forward that has an impressive three-point percentage (42.3)

and played alongside two other first-round picks: Tyler Herro and Keldon Johnson. With great size and length, Washington can be a productive wing in Dwane Casey’s system. Washington has an opportunity to be an instant contributor for a Piston’s team that will be competing for a repeat playoff appearance.

16. Orlando Magic: Kevin Porter Jr. (USC, G)

Age: 19 Height: 6’5.5” Weight: 213 Wingspan: 6’9” Standing Reach: 8’7”

PPG: 9.5 REB: 4.0 AST: 1.4 STL: 0.8 BLK: 0.5 TOV: 1.9 FG%: 47.1 3PT%: 41.2 FT%: 52.2

TS%: 55.9 eFG%: 56.1 PER: 16.2

Porter Jr. saw limited minutes in his freshman season at USC averaging 22.1 minutes per game and missed time due to injury. However, in his 21 appearances, Porter Jr. flashed the scoring ability that has him projected to be selected in the first round of the NBA draft. Despite lacking serious production in college, Porter Jr.’s game will continue to develop as he is only 19 years old and offers great size and potential at the next level.

17. Brooklyn Nets: Cameron Johnson (UNC, F)

Age: 23 Height: 6’9” Weight: 205 Wingspan: 6’10” Standing Reach: 8’7”

PPG: 16.9 REB: 5.8 AST: 2.4 STL: 1.2 BLK: 0.3 TOV: 1.5 FG%: 50.6 3PT%: 45.7 FT%: 81.8

TS%: 64.8 eFG%: 62.1 PER: 24.9

After playing two full seasons at Pittsburgh, Johnson transferred to UNC and enters the draft as one of the oldest prospects at 23. Johnson’s shooting improved each season and projects as an efficient three-point shooter after shooting 45.7 percent on 5.8 three-point attempts per game in his senior season. Johnson shot over 80 percent from the free throw line in each of his four full seasons in college and can be an instant contributor off the bench for Nets team that will be looking to make a repeat appearance in the playoffs.

18. Indiana Pacers: Rui Hachimura (Gonzaga, F)

Age: 21 Height: 6’8.5” Weight: 230 Wingspan: 7’2” Standing Reach: N/A

PPG: 19.7 REB: 6.5 AST: 1.5 STL: 0.9 BLK: 0.7 TOV: 1.8 FG%: 59.1 3PT%: 41.7 FT%: 73.9

TS%: 63.9 eFG%: 60.8 PER: 28.6

Hachimura has seen his stock rise rapidly after becoming the first Japanese player to

compete in the NCAA tournament in 2017. After averaging 11.6 points in his sophomore season, Hachimura had a breakout junior season as Gonzaga’s primary scorer scoring 19.7 points per game on 59.1 percent shooting from the field and 41.7 percent beyond the arc. Hachimura’s has great offensive potential but still leaves more to be desired on the defensive side of the ball.

19. San Antonio Spurs: Grant Williams (Tennessee, F)

Age: 20 Height: 6’7.5” Weight: 240 Wingspan: 6’9.75” Standing Reach: 8’8.5”

PPG: 18.8 REB: 7.5 AST: 3.2 STL: 1.1 BLK: 1.5 TOV: 2.2 FG%: 56.4 3PT%: 32.6 FT%: 81.9

TS%: 64.6 eFG%: 58.2 PER: 30.6

Williams is a tough physical player that can be a lockdown defender and will be a perfect

fit in Gregg Popovich’s system. After starting for three seasons at Tennessee, Williams showed improvement as a scorer each season going 12.6 points per game as a freshman to 18.8 as a junior. Williams has proven his ability to take advantage of his free throw opportunities after shooting 81.9 percent on 7.0 free throws per game last season.

20. Boston Celtics: Goga Bitadze (Georgia, C)

Age: 19 Height: 6’11” Weight: 250 Wingspan: 7’2” Standing Reach: N/A

PPG: 12.1 REB: 6.4 AST: 1.2 STL: 0.5 BLK: 2.3 TOV: 1.4 FG%: 54.8 3PT%: 31.3 FT%: 71.4

TS%: N/A eFG%: 57.5 PER: N/A

Bitadze has great upside as a two-way center with a versatile offensive skills set and the

tools to become a talented rim protector for a team that is in need of big man depth. Bitadze has decent passing skills for a big man, is a tenacious rebounder, but will need to get into better shape to become a consistent contributor off the bench.

21. Oklahoma City Thunder: Nickeil Alexander-Walker (Virginia Tech, G)

Age: 20 Height: 6’5.5” Weight: 204 Wingspan: 6’9.5” Standing Reach: 8’6”

PPG: 16.2 REB: 4.1 AST: 4.0 STL: 1.9 BLK: 0.5 TOV: 2.9 FG%: 47.4 3PT%: 37.4 FT%: 77.8

TS%: 58.6 eFG%: 54.6 PER: 21.9

Alexander-Walker started all 67 games in his two seasons at Virginia Tech after leaving

his hometown of Toronto. Averaging 1.9 steals per game, Alexander-Walker projects as a quality perimeter defender who was a career 38.3 percent three-point shooter in college. Alexander-Walker also improved from 1.5 to 4.0 assists per game, showing his maturity as a playmaker.

22. Boston Celtics: Keldon Johnson (Kentucky, G)

Age: 19 Height: 6’6” Weight: 216 Wingspan: 6’9.25” Standing Reach: 8’8”

PPG: 13.5 REB: 5.9 AST: 1.6 STL: 0.8 BLK: 0.2 TOV: 1.6 FG%: 46.1 3PT%: 38.1 FT%: 70.3

TS%: 55.8 eFG%: 52.1 PER: 18.5

Johnson entered the season as the No. 7 ranked prospect in ESPN’s 2018 Top 100, and

as Kentucky’s highest ranked prospect. Johnson shot an efficient 38.1 percent from beyond the arc on 3.2 three-point attempts per game. Johnson struggled at times against the top talent in the SEC, averaging 11.8 points per game 41.8 percent shooting from the field and 32.7 percent from three in conference play.

23. Utah Jazz: KZ Okpala (Stanford, F)

Age: 20 Height: 6’9.5” Weight: 210 Wingspan: 7’1.75” Standing Reach: 8’10.5”

PPG: 16.8 REB: 5.7 AST: 2.0 STL: 1.0 BLK: 0.6 TOV: 2.5 FG%: 46.3 3PT%: 36.8 FT%: 67.1

TS%: 54.3 eFG%: 50.7 PER: 18.1

Okpala had a breakout sophomore season in Palo Alto after improving his field goal

percentage from 39.3 percent to 46.3 percent and his three-point percentage from 22.6 percent to 36.8 percent. Okpala offers unique size and length at the forward position and averaged 1.0 steals per game and 0.5 blocks per game while playing at Stanford.

24. Philadelphia 76ers: Ty Jerome (Virginia, G)

Age: 21 Height: 6’5.5” Weight: 194 Wingspan: 6’4” Standing Reach: 8’2”

PPG: 13.6 REB: 4.2 AST: 5.5 STL: 0.4 BLK: 0.1 TOV: 0.9 FG%: 43.5 3PT%: 39.7 FT%: 73.6

TS%: 55.5 eFG%: 53.2 PER: 22.9

Jerome is a proven leader on and off the court and has arguably the highest basketball

IQ as any player in this year’s draft. In three seasons at Virginia, Jerome shot 39.2 percent from three and 78.8 percent from the charity stripe. Playing alongside Ben Simmons, Jerome will help space the floor and can be the perfect complementary guard to Simmons. Furthermore, Jerome is a skilled passer, who led the ACC with 202 total assists last season.

25. Portland Trail Blazers: Matisse Thybulle (Washington, G)

Age: 22 Height: 6’5” Weight: 200 Wingspan: 7’0” Standing Reach: N/A

PPG: 9.1 REB: 3.1 AST: 2.1 STL: 3.5 BLK: 2.3 TOV: 1.8 FG%: 41.5 3PT%: 30.5 FT%: 85.1

TS%: 54.2 eFG%: 50.0 PER: 19.9

Thybulle started all four seasons for the Huskies and was rewarded with the Naismith

Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2019, given to the nation’s top defender. In his senior season, Thybulle averaged an outstanding 3.5 steals and 2.3 blocks per game, while typically guarding the opponent’s top scoring guard. Thybulle led the nation with 126 steals last season and is first all-time in the Pac-12 with 331 career steals.

26. Cleveland Cavaliers: Chuma Okeke (Auburn, F)

Age: 20 Height: 6’8” Weight: 230 Wingspan: 7’0” Standing Reach: N/A

PPG: 12.0 REB: 6.8 AST: 1.9 STL: 1.8 BLK: 1.2 TOV: 1.7 FG%: 49.6 3PT%: 38.7 FT%: 72.2

TS%: 59.7 eFG%: 57.7 PER: 24.5

Okeke suffered a devastating torn ACL in Auburn’s sweet sixteen upset victory over

North Carolina after recording 20 points and 11 rebounds in only 25 minutes. After coming off of the bench as a freshman, Okeke started all 38 games for the Tigers in his sophomore season and is a career 38.9 three-point shooter. Okeke improved his defensive numbers going from 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks per game to 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game as a sophomore.

27. Brooklyn Nets: Tyler Herro (Kentucky, G)

Age: 19 Height: 6’6” Weight: 192 Wingspan: 6’3.25” Standing Reach: 8’4.5”

PPG: 14.0 REB: 4.5 AST: 2.5 STL: 1.1 BLK: 0.3 TOV: 1.6 FG%: 46.2 3PT%: 35.5 FT%: 93.5

TS%: 58.0 eFG%: 53.6 PER: 19.4

Herro is one of the most talented spot-up shooters in this year’s draft after starting every

game as a freshman at Kentucky. Despite shooting just 35.5 percent on 4.6 three-point attempts per game, Herro shot an impressive 93.5 percent from the free throw line, which suggests that he can still improve as a shooter from beyond the arc. Although Herro had a 46.2 percent field goal percentage, his true shooting percentage (takes into account 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throws) is 58.0 percent.

28. Golden State Warriors: Jontay Porter (Missouri, C)

Age: 19 Height: 6’11” Weight: 210 Wingspan: 7’0” Standing Reach: 9’1.5”

PPG: 9.9 REB: 6.8 AST: 2.2 STL: 0.8 BLK: 1.7 TOV: 1.9 FG%: 43.7 3PT%: 36.4 FT%: 75.

TS%: 56.7 eFG%: 52.1 PER: 21.7

It’s no secret that the Warriors need depth at center and with Demarcus Cousins’

contract expiring. Golden State would be more than happy to select a big man with the ability to also space the floor. Porter missed last season after tearing his ACL and MCL last October, but averaged 24.5 minutes per game as a freshman coming off the bench. Porter is a big bodied center who can hit three-pointers at an efficient rate of 36.4 percent and can be a quality rim protector after averaging 1.7 blocks per game.

29. San Antonio Spurs: Carsen Edwards (Purdue, G)

Age: 21 Height: 6’0.25” Weight: 199 Wingspan: 6’6” Standing Reach: 7’10.5”

PPG: 24.3 REB: 3.6 AST: 2.9 STL: 1.3 BLK: 0.3 TOV: 3.1 FG%: 39.4 3PT%: 35.5 FT%: 83.7

TS%: 54.1 eFG%: 49.0 PER: 23.2

Edwards is an undersized guard with limited playmaking ability but is one of the most

talented scorers in the entire country. Edwards led the Big Ten in points (874), points per game (24.3), field goals (277), 3-point field goals (135), usage percentage (37.3) and points produced (787). Edwards is a career 36.8 percent three-point shooter on 7.1 three-point attempts per game. As a junior, Edwards shot 83.7 percent from the free throw line on 6.1 free throw attempts per game, proving his ability to get to the line.

30. Milwaukee Bucks: Talen Horton-Tucker (Iowa St., G)

Age: 18 Height: 6’4” Weight: 235 Wingspan: 7’1.25” Standing Reach: 8’7”

PPG: 11.8 REB: 4.9 AST: 2.3 STL: 1.3 BLK: 0.7 TOV: 1.7 FG%: 40.6 3PT%: 30.8 FT%: 62.5

TS%: 48.8 eFG%: 47.0 PER: 17.2

Horton-Tucker projects as a great defender with great size and length to bully

undersized guards in the NBA. At just 18, Horton-Tucker’s game will continue to improve as he matures. With a 7’1.25” wingspan, Horton-Tucker’s length is rare and can help him become an elite perimeter defender at the next level. Although his production left more to be desired, Horton-Tucker will continue to grow and could benefit from playing in Mike Budenholzer’s defensive system that ranked first in the NBA this year.
